The Russell Armer Homes Clothing Collection
Russell Armer homes have supported this invaluable local charity for many years. We have set a goal of collecting 1 Tonne of clothing before the end of the year and are calling on our staff and customers to help.
It’s a great excuse for a clear out of those summer clothes you have finished with or clearing space for your new winter wardrobe! If you are about to move to your new home, now is the perfect time to reduce your packing!
The bag can be filled with clothing, footwear and household textiles such as curtains, towels and bed linen. However, they do not accept duvets or pillows.

They receive a very good price for the clothing collected and nothing is shredded or sold as rags. They do not sort the clothing and everything is exported to Europe where it is sold as good quality clothing in shops.
Your donations of used clothing are saving lives in our region. Every year, the Great North Air Ambulance Service receives hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of clothing, so it is a vital source of income for the charity.
Please fill the bag and return it to any of our Site managers or site Sales Advisors and we will do the rest.

Thank you for your help

Another Happy Home Buyer

"I don't think I can find fault in anything they have done"

Peter and Judy Duckworth, who are in their eighties, said they couldn't recommend the experience of moving into a Russell Armer home more highly.

Mr Duckworth, who moved into the property on the Master's Grange site in Kirkby Lonsdale with his wife two years ago, said: "It couldn't have been better really, Maureen our agent was extremely good and very upfront and I couldn't recommend the whole experience more highly. I don't think I can find fault in anything they have done.

"It is a modern house and the insulation is first class and it is double glazed and so the heating is good. The construction of the house is very good, the plumbing is excellent and Russell Armer's back up support service is really good. We are in a very quiet cul-de-sac and so we don't have to deal with a lot of traffic noise and we are just above a Booths supermarket.

"In theory it was going to be a four bedroom house, but we were lucky to become involved early enough that we were able to say that we wanted three bedrooms and we were able to re-design the downstairs and upstairs to our requirements. Instead of four small rooms we have got three good-sized rooms, which suits us perfectly.

"We used to live in an old farmhouse which we loved, but we find this modern house extremely efficient. We definitely think that we made the right move at the right time."

Russell Armer Homes Apprentice Scoops Kendal College’s Award

A Russell Armer Homes apprentice has scooped Kendal College’s ‘Construction Apprentice of the Year Award’ beating 28 other apprentices to the honours.

Daniel Hammond, aged 23 and from Kendal, has been studying brickwork at Kendal College for 8.5 hours a week in the last academic year, having studied full-time on the Level 1 Brickwork course the previous year.  Winning Kendal College’s award meant gaining the vote of the course tutors, with each tutor putting nominees forward before a collective decision was made.

Daniel shone because of his excellent work ethic and technical abilities.  He completed his apprenticeship well ahead of time and produced very good work all year.

Daniel is currently working on site with Russell Armer Homes’ bricklayers, getting practical experience at developments in Ingleton, Kendal and Penrith, before returning to Kendal College in September for his Level 3 course.

Russell Armer Homes’ Construction Director, Andrew Taylor, says: “We are all delighted that Daniel’s progress has been recognised by Kendal College through this award.  On site, it is clear that Daniel is committed to his work and I am confident that he will become an excellent tradesman on completion of his apprenticeship.”

Daniel is naturally delighted with the recognition he has received.  He says: “Over the past 15 months, I have put in a lot of hard work during my time at college and on site, but I was still surprised and pleased to receive the Construction Apprentice of the Year Award.  The support of my work colleagues and the college staff has helped my progression towards becoming a tradesman enormously and I must thank everyone for their guidance.”

Speaking on behalf of Kendal College, Graham Wilkinson, Principal of Kendal College, says: “Daniel was up against 28 other apprentices for this award, but he thoroughly deserved to win. It is always a privilege to have had a student like Daniel attend Kendal College and we are pleased he will be joining us again in September to complete his Level 2 qualification.”

New Homes Fly out of the Door in Kendal

Homes Fly Out Of The Door Thanks To Massive Demand In Kendal

Quality-driven Cumbrian home builder, Russell Armer Homes, is celebrating a hugely successful first day of sales at its new Cragg Close development in Kendal, where the first four homes to be released were sold within hours.

The scene at Cragg Close was similar to that of the first day of a shop sale, with people queuing from 8.30am to ensure they secured their home.

The sales office was so busy that the waiting prospective home owners had to be given a question and answer session in groups of ten at a time, as this was the only way the office could cope with the number of first time buyers wanting to get a foot on the property ladder and other keen-to-purchase home seekers.

Whilst it was known that the Cragg Close development, which is just off Rydal Road, had many draws, being close to schools and transport links and Kendal’s key employment clusters on one side and open countryside on the other, Russell Armer is still amazed by the strength of the desire to buy.

Russell Armer’s Martyn Nicholson says: “We are delighted by the instant response we have had following the release of the first homes at Cragg Close and now know who the first residents will be. Many more are lining themselves up for a property, which shows the shortage of affordable new quality homes in Kendal. Anyone else wishing to buy at Cragg Close should make enquiries very quickly.”

One of the new homes was bought by Kendal couple Charlotte Dent and Andrew Longcake, who have a four-year-old daughter, Chloe. Andrew works at local engineering company, Mardic, and the couple have been renting an existing Russell Armer Home in Kendal.

Charlotte says: “We have been able to buy a property thanks to the Government’s Help To Buy scheme, which has made a huge difference. Without it, we would not have been able to get a foot on the property ladder.

“We were impressed by the value-for-money that Russell Armer’s Cragg Close homes offer and the location is perfect. Having a garden and garage will also make a big difference to family life.”

The new development features 94 properties ranging in size from 2 to 4 bedroom houses and a small number of 1 and 2 bedroom apartments. It is an elevated site offering views over Kendal and out to the fells and has thoughtful, ecology-focused landscaping and a real sense of place. Enquiries about homes can be made by registering online at www.russell-armer.co.uk

Grange over sands Primary school visit

Cumbrian Home Builder Visits Grange CE Primary

Pupils at Grange CE Primary School have recently built on their knowledge of homes and how homes are constructed thanks to a visit from Russell Armer Homes’ construction director, Andrew Taylor.

The pupils
have been working on a project about building and buildings through the ages, comparing homes of the past with those of the present day.

Andrew Taylor, who is overseeing the building of four-bedroom houses at Pengarth, Grange-over-Sands, went into the classroom armed with samples of building materials that the children could see and handle. This allowed them to discover how modern roofs and walls are constructed and of what they are composed.

Andrew explained how a home is built and then helped children build their own ‘properties’, using cereal boxes, yogurt cartons and other craft materials.  The pupils worked to a plan for their ideal house, which they had already drawn.  As they built their dream home, Andrew was on hand to watch and assist.

Andrew Taylor says: “Russell Armer Homes has been part of the Cumbrian landscape for over 50 years and we believe in engaging with community and education projects like that at Grange Primary School, so that we can give something back to our homeowners and potential homeowners.

“The children were very enthusiastic and had some great ideas.  Maybe some of them could be Russell Armer Homes employees of the future!”

Russell Armer Homes’ Pengarth development has been designed in the style of the Arts & Crafts movement.  For more details of Russell Armer Homes visit www.russell-armer.co.uk
